Avon Descent 2022

Details

Sun 14 Aug 2022 09:00 — 13:00

Event information

Registrations for this event are closed.

As previously advised this year the Avon Descent is going to be longer than last year – 13km. Again, it will be exciting to be part of one of WA’s iconic events. At the finish at Riverside Gardens, there will be a festival type atmosphere, with food vans, entertainment and excitement with the finish of the Avon Descent.

There will be medals for first place, second place and third place. It will be better organised this year with all boats pulling into Riverside Gardens after the finish and disembarking for presentations.

Please see below the logistics for the Dragon Boat Race. Click here for a map showing the course. The timings are not confirmed, will advise as soon as I know.

Start

  • Reg Bond Reserve, Guildford.
  • Paddlers, boats and trailers to arrive no later than 9.00am with an approximate race start at 10.00am.
  • Sweeps briefing at 9.15am.
  • Boats to be loaded with paddlers and on the water by 9.45am.
  • The boats will be lined up together at the start, then started at 30 second intervals, similar to our 2k race.
  • Make sure you organize someone to look after your valuables, do not expect volunteers at the start to look after them.

Finish line

The finish line is between the gazebo and the shore. After the race, all boats are to pull up on the shore at the Riverside Gardens. First, second and third will receive their medals at a presentation ceremony after the race – time to be confirmed.

Trailer and paddler parking

Paddlers are to organise their own transport.

Further information regarding the logistics will be sent out shortly.
